Inventory Control, Stock-Taking, and Asset Management

In this course, students will understand inventory management, emphasizing the balance between material shortages and excesses, the associated costs (storage, ordering, and stockouts), and the use of tools such as Minimum Stock, Maximum Stock, Reorder Point, Economic Order Quantity, and ABC Classification to optimize availability and reduce operating costs.

The module also addresses physical inventory as a strategic tool for auditing and corporate governance, presenting periodic and rotating methods, double and blind counting, strict cut-off, and discrepancy investigation, ensuring that records faithfully reflect warehouse reality and support managerial decision-making. Finally, students will study asset management and the life cycle of goods, including asset control and registration, movement with responsibility terms, proper asset write-offs, accounting and managerial depreciation, and preventive and corrective maintenance.

The objective is to ensure the preservation, efficient use, and extension of the useful life of assets, guaranteeing integrity, legal compliance, and economic efficiency.
