Environmental management includes licensing, continuous monitoring, waste classification under ABNT NBR 10,004 (Class I: hazardous; II-A: non-inert; II-B: inert), and the preparation of the Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP), following the hierarchy of non-generation, reduction, reuse, and proper final disposal.
The course emphasizes sustainability starting from plant design, incorporating Prevention through Design and Green Chemistry, and highlights the importance of environmental awareness among operators, ensuring ethical and legal responsibility for emissions and waste disposal.
