Fundamentals and Management of Material and Asset Resources

In this course, students will understand the strategic importance of materials and asset management, which directly impacts organizational competitiveness and profitability. Management models — centralized, decentralized, and hybrid — will be presented, showing how each approach influences standardization, flexibility, and operational efficiency, while reducing logistics costs and improving resource availability.

The module details the procurement cycle and supplier management, including needs identification, requisition, quotation, ordering, follow-up, receipt, and payment, with attention to routine purchases, emergency purchases, and supply contracts. Ethics, transparency, and collaborative negotiation are emphasized, as well as inventory management through sizing, ABC curve, and accounting valuation methods, ensuring balance between tied-up capital and meeting demands.

Finally, students will study warehousing and handling logistics, highlighting physical warehouse planning, addressing systems, mechanization, and load unitization. Physical, periodic, and rotating inventories will be addressed, ensuring information accuracy and operational efficiency, allowing the right materials to be available at the right place and time to support business continuity.
